Alopecia areata is nonscarring alopecia that affects the scalp mainly, but also any hair-bearing area. It presents as patchy hair loss in an area, or loss of hair on the entire scalp (alopecia totalis), or the whole body (alopecia Universalis). It can affect both males and females, and any racial background equally. Various therapeutic modalities are used including topical and intralesional corticosteroids.
Intralesional Injections are the most common treatment for alopecia areata.
